Kipling's poem (or Service Song from the South African War), Boots (Infantry Column of the Earlier War) (attached), has experienced a resurgence in popular culture, especially Taylor Holme's 1915 reading (audio file attached), used to dramatic effect in the trailer for the upcoming 28 Years Later, probably not to some members taste. Per A Handbook to the Poetry of Rudyard Kipling, "The first four words in each line of this poem should be read slowly, at the rate of two words to a second. This will give the time at which a foot soldier normally marches".

"Each day is a little life.”
