The 1903 photo depicts the Oxfordshire Light Infantry Cottage Homes in Cowley, Oxford with the first occupants standing outside.
The first time I entered these cottages was in the early 1980's by when they had a single storey extension on the front and were the home to a Vetinary Practice, which meant every time I left I was considerably poorer.
Thus I find the two cats in the photo, one on the left hand window sill and the other on the dividing fence, highly ironic and I fell to wondering what their names might have been.
I have decided they were mortal enemies and the one on the left was named Mauser (pun intended) and the one on the right Enfield.
Any other suggestions will be gratefully accepted.
