Hello forum members. I am part way through writing a family history book for my wife. Her grandfather William Lloyd was with the Royal Horse Artillery, Q Battery, and received the QSA with clasps for Paardeberg, Driefontein, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill, Relief of Kimberley and Wittebergen.

I would love to include a couple of photos in the book. In particular I would like to include of photo of Q battery or as he was a "driver" a more general photo of a driver. Does anyone know where I could obtain such photos - I would be happy to pay any fees if they are subject to copyright. Thanks for any help.

There are quite a few pictures of Q battery available. There should be no copyright payable.

What type of picture would you be looking for?

Thanks for coming back on this. I'm not sure what to say about the type of picture - as I mentioned a photo of a driver or if there are any photos of Q battery's involvement in any of the battles that would be great.

The best depiction I know of Q Battery is Terence Cuneo's 'Ambush at Sannas Post'. It can be seen at Google images and can be ordered from print makers. By the way, spot the mouse!
