This is a picture showing the presentation of medals and took place on 12th June 1901.

The caption states that this is one many presentation made by the King in person and that the one depicted here took place at Horse Guards' Parade. The first recipient was Lord Roberts and he was followed by Lord Milner, Sir Geoffrey Langden, General Sir Redvers Buller, General Sir Ian Hamilton and some 3,200 officers and men. The ceremony lasted two hours.

To the right of the King is Queen Alexandra and next to her is Lord Robers. Further to the right is the Duke of Cambridge.
