Thank you for this Mike.

Looking at the contents, they include "This book embraces all Boer war literature published up to 1920 - general histories, regimental records, official publications, personal accounts and numerous other items."

It sounds like a section we should aim to create in the forum?

Hi David.....

Yes I think that it would be a good category.....

But not used as "What I Am or are You Reading.....

This should be used for books that are available, Title, Author, Date, Publisher and main subject.....

David,

If you're suggesting a section on books published since 1920 to complement Hackett then I completely agree. Could be easily sifted into the categories you list above.

There must be quite a few publications that are not mainstream but would be of interest to users of the site. I've just found two which I knew I had but couldn't remember where I'd put them!

1. 'Oxfordshire People and the Forgotten War' by Ann Spokes Symons (2002)

2. 'The Black Angel: The Volunteers of the Border Regiment in the Boer War' by Colin Bardgett (2002)

Justin,

I can see the need for such a list as people often ask me if there is a book about their particular regiment and, most of the time, I have to answer that I don't know of one which is not a very useful response.

Not sure whether it is best to open this up as a forum section or to use a page to hold the information.

What do you think would work best?

Hello David.....

I think a seperate page or section should be used that way it can be updated....

Maybe what is below will be a good start.... This is a partial list of some of the books that I have in my Library....

Some are still available some not....

Mike
