There is no picture on the auctioneer's site of the Colenso picture but I believe this to be it:

thanks for posting those pics; my kind of paintings! I have The Thin Red Line (1896 lithograph), The Last Grip, The Death of Gordon (copy) and Thorneycroft's Charge (modern) and I would dearly love to add one of JC's ABW subjects. Where is the egg money?????

Yes I did a little research on him also, looks like he has done quite a lot of work.

Idly flicking on my computer (!), I noted that John Charlton was an artist of some considerable note around the latter part of the 19th Century. See Wikipedia entry. Most of his subjects seem to be "broad canvas" items; not charming snapshots as you were so fortunate to find.
There could be more?
