David,
Apologies if this thread is not within the forum's bounds but I thought it might be of some interest.
A visit to York today to photograph some memorials and I saw this in a charity shop.
"Occupation of Matabeleland a souvenir"
Published in November 1933 under the auspices of the fortieth anniversary celebrations committee.
Designed, printed and published by The Rhodesian Printing & Publishing Co.Ltd Bulawayo Southern Rhodesia.
I must admit I Know very little about this campaign so I found it intriging.
Mr.Rhodes is well documented and there are write ups and pictures of the vetrans, some later fighting in the Boer War.
David please feel free to delete if you think not suitable.

Paul,

That's great. Another publication to look out for.

I spotted Raleigh Grey, a Jameson Raider, in the picture and it was good to see him again.

Many thanks
David

That is a great find! Anything to do with Rhodesia has become very collectible. Perhaps this is similar to the works of an artist becoming more valuable after he or she is dead.

Paul,

When I see items like this, I think we should have more information on the site for the CGH GSM, SAGS, BSA CM and Natal 1906 as they are very germane to the site.

I see the souvenir has 134 pages. What other gems does it contain?

Best wishes
David

Hi Brett,
Thank you, a little out of my collecting field but I thought it might be interesting.

Paul :)

Hi David,
Glad it is the remit of the forum and of some interest.
I only had a quick look through yesterday, it tells the story of that era and has some good pics.
It has quite a few advertisments for the local business's which are interesting, will post more info when I can.
BTW I nearly did not buy it, glad I did.

Paul :)
