Gentlemen,
I hope you all enjoyed your day and would be very interested to know of any purchases that were made, I hope you all have been able to avoid bankruptcy.

Besides receiving my Lots from the last City Coins auction :) , I was rather disappointed with the show. The only person who had medals for sale was Michael Kaplan and after failing to bargain a "certain Natal Police Group" with an Edward VII Natal Long Service medal down to an acceptable price (if there is such a thing these days) I walked away!

DNW were there but brought nothing with them?????? Why bother coming a third of the way around the world and "just attend"? I'm sure Chris could have at least brought along a few groups with an SA or African connection to display or sell off.

Another local chap had a display of SA replated police medals which was interesting as it covered most areas of this theme, including a SA Railways and Harbours group.

It does however appear that the next City Coins auction to be held later this year will be a bumper auction from the feedback we received from Natalie and Ruth.

Anyway Adrian and myself enjoyed a light lunch and a cool brown beverage and the sea views and sights that normally go with a hot sunny beach day. And of course Brett and his good wife was there and it is always a pleasure to see and talk to them.

Regards
Brian

Good evening Brian,
A Edwardian Natal Long Service? yes, I do see the potential major problem here, could Mr Hendey not be persuaded to issue you with a small loan from his extensive resources and assets? :(
Regards Frank

Frank

I would prefer to stay on the "good side" of Mrs Hendey, otherwise our visits to the local "Stokers Arm's" could be placed in jeopardy

The group would have been nice but after already acquiring a Natal Naval Volunteer QSA, Transport Medal and a QSA and St John pair this month I was just being greedy! I would also have had to refrain from the upcoming Kaplans Auction ummmmmmm feast or famine, we have been spoilt for choice this year.

Brian

I echo Brian's comments.

We had a great day out looking at a few groups, meeting old friends and enjoying the superb Durban weather whilst sipping on a few local brews.

There was a nice pair on display (QSA and Natal 1906) to Overseer W.Foster of the NLC and his Natal with clasp named to Overseer Sgt W Foster of the Border Mounted Rilfes.

All great stuff.
