In the next DNW auction are some dies / punches for the QSA.

Do you know what these dies/punches actually are? Are they full size? I would imagine that the dies for the QSA (or any officially issued medal)would be the strict property of HMG.

I hate to think about the problems these could cause in the future. I am surprised at seeing them up for sale.

If these are punches, why is the lettering not reversed on the two at the top? And what is the top left medal?

Could they be test engravings that were scrapped for some reason?????

The medal top left is described as 'Reverse punch for the Coronation 1902 Medallion by Spink'.

This lot sold for £580 yesterday.

Picking up Paul's point, were these use to produce the dies for the medals? Less punches and more casts?
