I have just come across and old post where you have listed my Great Grandfather Private (H. Horace Birch Davenport 5889 King's Shropshire Light Infantry.. I would be really grateful if you had any information or you were in possession of any of his medals. I have his 1914/15 Star and his next of kin plaque issued after he was killed during WW1 at Hooge in Belgium on the 9th August 1915.
No idea why a smiley face was on my email to you!!
You listed my Great Grandfather as pte H.B Davenport 5889. His first two names are Horace Birch although some records have misspelled his first name as Horris instead of Horace.
Thanks for reply My interest in Horace Davenport is that I have his QSA medal and was hoping to reunite with his other medals I have had this medal in my collection for over ten years and have researched his service in the Great War, good to know his 1915 Star and Memorial plaque have also servived
Hi Philip, Thank you for replying.
It.'s great to hear Horace's QSA medal has survived. I went to the Shropshire Regimental Museum in Shrewsbury Castle a few years ago and searched through all the medals to try and find any of his, but couldn't locate any. Would you be willing to part with it as I would love to be able to keep it with his other medals. Can you remember where you got the medal from out of interest.
