Dear forum

I am trying to re-unite a Cape of Good Hope LS&GC medal to the CMR with its missing CGHGS Clasps Basutoland and Bechuanaland, and its QSA with clasps Wepener, Wittebergen, Cape Colony, Transvaal, South Africa 1901.

On the medal roll CGHGS by Martin Wagner and Neil Raaff,(Northeast Medals Website) it is shown as whereabouts known.I am hoping both medals are together.

Could anyone provide me with a way of contacting either Wagner or Raaff, so I can find out in which auction, museum or dealer list the missing medals are/were ?

Thanks

Adrian (No2)

Adrian,

You might be able to contact Neil on [email protected]

Otherwise he is on the British Medal Forum.

Wow that is an awesome group. Good luck with tbe reunite. The combination of the Cape LS, two bar Cape GS and Wepener QSA is incredible.

Email the owner of the site you saw yhe list on as they know how to get hold of Marty, although I don't think he recorded who has the medals.

You might try searching the DNW and Spink archives too.

Good luck, Ryan

Hi Adrian

The name is 1116 Pte George Moorman, CMR
He enlisted in England on 8th July 1881, aged 22 years old.
A Sgt G Moorman participated at a shooting competition with the Isle of Wight Rifle Volunteers in June 1881.

I think it is him, but still researching.
Neil remembers the CGHGS he had, and will get back to me.
QSA with 5 clasps still out there I hope!

Regards

Hello Adrian,

Thanks for the reply.

I cannot add much more for you as the info you have given is what I have on a copy of his page in the defaulters book DD7/60.

I have just had a look through my list of extant application forms for the CGHGS medal and sadly his is not one of those. I really hope that Neil can help you locate the Cape medal and of course perhaps also his QSA. Always nice to have a complete group to a chap that was part of the Siege of Wepener not forgetting the fact that it also comprises the very seldom seen Cape LSGC medal.

All the best with the reunite.

Cheers
Adrian
