Hello all,

I am trying to track down the QSA awarded to 4433 Private John O'Keefe, Royal Irish Fusiliers. The QSA may exist as part of a group alongside the 1914 Star, BWM and Victory Medal.

I believe he rejoined the Colours in 1914 with Regt No. 11333, medal cards record his surname being spelt O'Keefe and O'Keeffe.

John O'Keefe is great grandfather to my mother in law, I would like to try and get the medal(s) back in the family.

I'd be grateful for any information or direction.

The Faugh a ballagh boys certainly had something didn't they? :)
Interesting to note that he also served in the South African Constabulary too, certainly another avenue to go down as far as research goes.

Frank,

I hadn't uncovered the South African Constabulary bit yet, that's very exciting, thank you. I shall look into it; starting points gratefully received.

Hello James,
Well, the QSA roll suggests that he did indeed serve in the SAC, one gives the rank of Corporal, whilst the other states Trooper 3rd Class, his number 251, records for B Division are in the care of the National Archives of South Africa in Pretoria, so it would be worth while you taking it further, from the membership of this forum, Rory is very keen on the SAC and Mike likes all things related to a certain Colonel Steele and all his men, so perhaps you should talk to them too.
Again, regards Frank
