Hello Forum members
I'm happy to report a really fortuitous medal find...............
In March 2014 I purchased in Canada an ABO to Burger CS Luyt who'd served in the Heilbron Kommando during the ABW. :)
wounded I believe at Paardeberg and taken POW with Gen Cronje. Turns out this fellow later returned to SA and joined up in the UDF, this is where I need help.

2 weeks ago I purchased BWM & Bil Vic medal impressed 'Potchefstroom Kommando' to the same fellow from a collector in Europe. :cheer:
I don't believe there is any doubt the medals are all part of the same group!!!
Can anyone on the Forum tell whether Luyt served in GSWA and whether he is entitled to a 14-15 Star? Can anyone help with a service record? and anything more about CS Luyt.

Forum members have a huge amount of knowledge and reference material, so I'm looking forward to getting positive feedback.
Grateful thanks
Evyn

If Luyt did serve in GSWA there should be a card for him in the UDF Archives in Pretoria. The card is usually the only record of GSWA service, and they are frustratingly uninformative, but Luyt's card, if it exists, will answer your question.
