Hi All

Looking for the location of the following on behalf of the family -

QSA 'Dreifontein/Johannesburg/Diamond Hill/Wittebergen/Cape Colony - issued to - 393 TROOPER D.B.WILLIAMSON CEYLON MOUNTED INFANTRY.

Any information on its location would be appreciated.

Thanks for looking

Now that would be a very scarce medal indeed, I do hope for your sake it remains extant, a glance at WO100/211 suggests his medal was issued to him on the 29th of April 1901, you can add the South Africa 1901 clasp to your list too, one of eighteen issued to the Commandant, Ceylon Volunteer Force, Colombo and sent to Williamson at his home, Sunnycroft, Ruanwella, Ceylon in 1908.
A lovely medal, have you checked any of the saleroom auctions archives to see if it has been offered for sale in the last couple of decades?
An advertisement in Medal News might be a further avenue to look at too.

Over many years of being interested in QSAs to small units, I have ever only located one (338 Tpr. A.H.Berry, Ceylon M.I., clasps CC/Jhb/DH/Witte) and of course know of Mike's example. A very small unit (Stirling says one Squadron of 125 men. A second contingent arrived too late for active service). Probably an ad in Medal News - as Frank suggested - might be the best option. Apart from checking all dealer lists regularly.
Best of luck with your quest.
Regards
IL.
