No gallantry listed for Trooper Ryall, but in late 1901 was Court Martial for disobeying a direct order and reduced from the rank of Corporal to Trooper.
2072 1st CLASS TROOPER WILLIE HERBERT GIBBONS
For Gallantry at Bessiespan while covering the withdrawal there when Trooper Faltenhine was wounded.
3420 3rd CLASS TROOPER HAROLD FALTENHINE
Severely wounded covering the withdrawal at Bessiespan August 11th, 1901 where he remained behind with Trooper Young so the balance of the troop lead by Trooper Gibbons could escape. Later discharged as medically unfit. Forced to pay his own way home as British government refused to pay but later sued the British and won.
2090 1st CLASS TROOPER RICHARD DOUGLAS MUIR
Slightly wounded while successfully rescuing a fellow Trooper at Rietport, October 10th, 1901.
2120 3rd CLASS TROOPER CLAUDE LESLIE YOUNG
Covering the withdrawal at Bessiespan August 11th, 1901 where he remained behind with the wounded Trooper Faltenhine so the balance of the troop lead by Trooper Gibbons could escape.
