In the book "Natal Carbineers 1855-1911" edited by the Rev. John Stalker there is a nominal roll of officers and men who served in the ABW including five men called Dicks. All had the rank of trooper.

E.J. (sic) Dicks
G.W. Dicks
H.C Dicks
H.E.H. Dicks
J.A. Dicks

The first three are notated witha letter 'L' which signifies they took part in the siege of Ladysmith.

E.J. has to be your Edward Isaac. G.W. and H.E.H. are also your men. Your other two aren't shown.
