In cases where medals have been issued to men erroneously claimed for, them [sic] by Officers Commissioned Units, and the men concerned, who have in the mean time been transferred to the Army Reserve, refuse to return the medals, it is considered that the stoppage of a Reservist's pay is of a doubtful legality. A note should however be made on such men's documents to the effect that the individuals concerned are not entitled to the decoration.
