1900 - Mafeking siege day 188 (86%). Wepener siege day 10 (59%). Rundle and Chermside advance on Dewetsdorp.
1902 - Boer peace delegates leave Pretoria to consult the commandos.
1904 - Durand and other Boers arrested in Lydenburg district for treason.

1900 - Mafeking - A diary of the siege by Major F D Baillie

Desultory shelling. Last night eleven native women tried to get out, nine were killed and two were wounded. This, in spite of repeated protests of Colonel Baden-Powell, who has pointed out that Snyman continually shells the native village, and that when the women try to escape they are flogged by day and shot by night. Botha, on hearing of the occurrence, expressed his great regret and promised to look after the wounded. Last night, too, the Boers were blowing up the line to the south, about five miles out.

1900 - Diary of the siege of Mafeking by Edward Ross

18 April

Much better again, fever abating.

Am starting again on the £1 notes, and as I shall be kept pretty busy, and there being nothing of any interest to write, I shall cut it short for a week or two until I get finished up, and then I will endeavour to scribble a few interesting items.
