1900 - Mafeking siege day 204 (94%). Mafeking relief column under Colonel Mahon starts from Barkly West. Hunter crosses Vaal at Windsorton. General Warren, appointed Military Governor of Griqualand West, arrives at Orange River. Ian Hamilton drives the Boers off the Babiaansberg.
1902 - Drive in N.E. O.R.C.
1908 - May 4. Customs and Railways Conference at Pretoria.

Absolute quiet. My last letters have fallen into the Dutchmen's hands. They will be nice light reading for them, as they were barely complimentary. I do not expect to be popular after this war. When one is tired and bored out here, it is very refreshing to be able to abuse all and sundry, and think that one need not settle up for another two or three months.
