9 May

Two Red Cross ambulances and about 20 men were today seen to leave the Boer main laager. What’s up now?

We had a little excitement today owing to a pigeon having come in, but were sadly disappointed to find the message had become detached from its leg and lost.

Owing to the enemy having broken all truce, our white flag communications have now been broken off.
