1900 - "J. Kennell, a sailor, pleaded guilty to being drunk in Oxford-street on Sunday evening [8th July]. Prisoner stated that he had been serving in Africa in the Natal Volunteer Hospital Corps, and had returned in the Assaye as hospital orderly. He had taken "two pints too much" (laughter).—The Bench discharged him, and he left the dock stating that he was much obliged to everybody in the Court (laughter)."
