David,
I was surprised at the VC's to Capt Meiklejohn and Sergt Major Robertson being gazetted on the 20th July 1900, when those to Capt Mullins and Johnston were not gazetted for a further six and a half months :( and only then because of letters being written by Percy Fitzpatrick and Major Karri Davies to Lord Roberts and General French respectively!
Had it not been for the bravery of the two Imperial Light Horse officers :woohoo: on the day, the result may well have been differant.

Hello David,
Forgot to add, you cannot but admire young 2nd Lieutenant John Norwood's courage at Ladysmith, he rode back to save a member of his patrol and dismounted and instead of putting his wounded trooper on his horse, he actually put the fellow on his back and carried him and still managed to hold his horse with his other hand for quite some distance whilst being fired on! and actually got away with it! :woohoo:

Frank,

I agree with you. It was an amazing act. I must post that artist's impression of his deed.

Best wishes
David
