Good afternoon Mike,
Can you just clarify RO2 for me, this man was a Captain in the 90th Regt and is now a Private in Strathcona's Horse?

Hi Frank.....

A number of men left their Militia units to join the varous Canadian contingents..... Some were Officers who relinquished their commissions just to be able to join as a private and go overseas for the adventure...... Later on with the unit he was promoted to Lieutenant.....

Hi Mike,
Sorry, we are talking about the Canadian Militia here then?
I was trying to get my head around the thought of a former Captain in the 90th LI of the British Army, enlisting into Strathcona's Horse!
Regards Frank

Hi Mike,
What strikes me here is the level of competition there was to get a place into Strathcona's I suppose it must have been much the same in the Imperial Light Horse and all the various New Zealand regts being raised at that time.
