R.O. 112– 11-03-1900

Morning Order

Re-Entraining of the Regiment Establishment en route, Halifax via Montreal

Horses:

The horses will be entrained on Sunday afternoon commencing at 2 o’clock as
follows :-

First Train

“A” SQUADRON

153 Horses and 29 Staff Horses = 182 and 3 horses for General Hutton. The above will comprise the first 12 cars.

“B” SQUADRON

80 Horses will be loaded in 5 cars.

All 17 cars will complete first train.

First Train

“B” SQUADRON

73 Squadron Horses and 48 Spare (attached) Horses to be loaded in 8 cars.

“C” SQUADRON

153 Horses in 10 cars and the above 8 cars to complete the second train.

A detail of an officer and four (4) N. C. Officers and seventy (70) men will be for duty with the entrained horses.

The quartermaster will see that all necessary feed, water, lanterns and stores are shipped with the horses.

The first train will leave Union Station at 7 a.m. Monday, 12th inst. – The second at 7.30 a.m.

The horse cars will be attached to the trains leaving Windsor Station at 6.30 p.m. of the 12th inst. outside of Montreal. The whole being then transferred to the I.C.R.

Men:

First Train

The first train of Officers, N.C.O.’S and men will leave the Central Station, Ottawa, at 10.30 a.m. on Monday next, and will consist of cars No. 1019, 1038 and 1026, each with 52 men of “A” Squadron. Also cars 1051, 1072 and 1042 with 52 men each of “B” Squadron. Also 1053 Regimental Staff, N.C.O.’S and men = 44 Total

And one 1st class sleeper for Officers of “A” And “B” Squadrons and Regimental Staff Officers.

Also One Commissariat Car.

Second Train

Cars 1035, 1060 and 1061 with 52 men each of “C” Squadron.

Car 1041 for Officers and N.C.Officers of “C” Squadron, also one Commissariat Car and Baggage Car.

Both trains will arrive at Windsor Station, Montreal at 3 p.m.

The two trains will be ready at the same station at 6.30 p.m. same day for the entraining of men and will leave as soon as all men are aboard

Horses must be entrained strictly in compliance with former orders ( R.O. 95 and R.O. 112 ) to enable trains to be correctly made up at Montreal by Squadrons.

Captain Howard on first train and Lieutenant Veterinary Surgeon Stevenson will accompany the horse trains, the senior in charge and the Veterinary Surgeon on the second train.
