Troop 4 In confirming the above promotions, the O.C. desires to point out to the N.C.O.’s that any carelessness or negligence in the discharge of their duties however irreproachable their character may be in other respects, they become unworthy of their rank, and an injury to the Corps, and any action or conversation which is likely to be detrimental to the interest of the regiment will be severely dealt with. N.C.O.’s of the Regiment should consider themselves on duty at all times and maintain a constant supervision over the men particularly of their troops. They should assist the men by their influence and example, teach them military habits, punctuality at all parades and duties, the necessity of obedience to orders, and impress upon their minds the maxim that, right or wrong, soldiers should first obey and if aggrieved complain afterwards. Non-Com. Officers should make themselves acquainted with the customs and rules of the service that they may perform their duties with certainty and decision. R.O. 198 – 26-03-1900 To be Regimental Sergeant Major on probation, Regt. No. 3 Steele, E. J. of “B” Squadron from the 26th inst. To be Orderly Room Sergeant, Regt. No. 428 Acting Squadron Quartermaster Sergeant Bullough, J. of “B” Squadron from 7th February 1900 on probation. To be Transport Sergeant on probation Regt. No. 168 Allison, D of “A” Squadron. The last two from the 7th and 10th February respectively. All the above for duty on Regimental Staff, “A” Squadron. R.O. 199 – 26-03-1900 Until further orders Officers not on duty may wear flannels after 4 p.m. daily. R.O. 200 – 26-03-1900 The main deck from bow to bridge deck will be washed at bathing parade daily. R.O. 201 – 26-03-1900 The N.C. Officers of the Guard will visit his sentries at least once every half hour during the night. R.O. 202 – 26-03-1900 Officer of the Day for tomorrow, Lieutenant Bliss, attached; next for duty, Lieutenant Sutton, attached. R.O. 203 – 26-03-1900 The detail for Stable Duty is as follows: Mounting 8.00 a.m. 27th inst. 3rd and 4th Troops “C” Squadron, 1 Troop “A” Squadron Mounting 8.00 p.m. 27th inst. 4 Troop “A” Squadron, 2 and 3 Troop “B” Squadron Major Jarvis and Captain Cartwright for duty a.m. and p.m. respectively. Lieutenant Laidlaw will take command of 3 Troop “C” Squadron, vice Lieutenant Macdonald for this duty only. R.O. 204 – 26-03-1900 Until further orders the sick will parade at 7.45 a.m. daily.
