Details for Stables Tuesday 10th April, 1900.

R.O. 280 – 08-04-1900

There will be no drill parades on Monday the 9th inst.

R.O. 281 – 08-04-1900

On Monday commencing at 9.00 am all kit bags and personal baggage belonging to Officers, N.C. Officers and Men will be brought up from the hold and baggage rooms and issued to the owners. Baggage and Kit bags will be gon over by owners and any rubbish and old clothes will be got ready to be thrown overboard on the arrival of the vessel in dock. The Kit Bag and personal baggage will be stacked up on the bridge deck immediately aft of the smoking room on the port side. The whole will be checked and any missing will be found. Blankets and waterproof sheets must be checked over before disembarkation.

As soon as the ship is along side the wharf at Cape Town the sentry will be placed over each gangway. No civilians will be allowed to come aboard and no person will be allowed to leave the ship. Sentries will also be posted to prevent soldiers leaving the wharf on landing without permission.

R.O. 283 – 08-04-1900

Arrangements must be made by Squadron Officers and the O.C. Royal Canadians to have their troop decks thoroughly clean and free of rubbish. The Q-Master will arrange for the cleaning of latrines and wash-houses. The Vety Officers for the cleaning of stables, all before leaving the ship. If necessary and practicable a party will be detailed to remain on board to finish the work after the main body has left.

R.O. 284 – 08-04-1900

A party of one officer (a lieutenant), four (4) N.C.O.'s and fourty (40) men will be detailed from "A" Squadron to land kit bags and baggage. "B" Squadron will furnish guard of one (1) sergeant, one (1) corporal, and twelve (12) men for baggage on wharf, and an escort of four (4) men to each wagon load of baggage taken to the camp ground. Officers servants will look after officers baggage, grooms will look after officers horses, all other men will be available for duty.

R.O. 285 – 08-04-1900

The quartermaster will hand over to the Transport Officer all waggons, carts, harness and equipment at once. The Transport Officer will be responsible for the Transport from this date and will arrange for the transportation of all baggage and supplies to the Camp Ground.

R.O. 286 – 08-04-1900

The Order of Disembarkation will be as follows:-

First, saddlery and harness, Second, Men's kits, arms and accoutriments, all of which will be deposited on the wharf at a sufficient distance from the vessel to allow space for the horses to be landed and formed up in line. Rifles will be piled on wharf till horses are ashore. Third, the horses will be led ashore each man leading his own. Care must be taken to prevent them from plunging or falling as they feel their legs on landing. The horses are apt, at once, to fall on their knees unless carefully held up. No horse will be ridden or worked in any way.

R.O. 287 – 08-04-1900

The Officer Commanding hopes that all ranks will exert themselves to the utmost to make the disembarkation a credit to themselves and the regiment. Dress for disembarkation, Officers, Khaki Serge Frock, Bedford Cord Breeches, Long Boots, Stetson Hats, Revolver Belt and Revolver. N.C.O.'s and Men, Khaki Frock and Breeches, Brown Boots, Stetson Hats, Rifles, Waist Belts, Revolvers, Side Arms, and Bandoliers and Haversacks empty.

The following transfers will date from today:-

Reg. No. 217, Private McDonald, J. R. from Regt. Staff to "B" Squadron
Reg. No. 213, Private Milne, A. from "B" Squadron to Regt. Staff

R.O. 289 – 08-04-1900

Orders regarding saddlery and harness will be published on arrival.
