R.O. 338 – 13-04-1900

Captain of the Day, Captain Howard, D.M. of "A" Squadron, next for duty, Captain Cameron C.W. of "B" Squadron

Subaltern of the Day, Lieutenant Fall, A.W., of "A" Squadron, next for duty, Lieutenant Courtney.

R.O. 339 – 13-04-1900

On all occasions troops will fall in on private parade ground and inspected by the Officer Commanding the troop, and will form up in squadron column in rear of their own lines and march to the general parade ground.

R.O. 340 – 13-04-1900

On all occasions arms will be inspected by the troop officers before marching off their parade grounds.

R.O. 341 – 13-04-1900

Until further orders the regiment will fall in for drill at 7.45 am and 1.15 pm. Each drill will be of two hours duration.

R.O. 342 – 13-04-1900

Squadron Commanders will collect their reports on the squadron parade grounds. The adjurant will collect them on the general parade ground. The posts of officers will be in accordance with that laid down in "Cavalry Drill" 1898.

R.O. 343 – 13-04-1900

Today will be spent in fitting saddlery, rifle buckets &c and cleaning arms.

Each troop officer will be responsible for the care of the arms of his troop.

R.O. 344 – 13-04-1900

The Quarter-Master will issue at once all that kit which has not already been issued for both men and horses.

R.O. 345 – 13-04-1900

Refering to Order Number 341 od today, Squadrons will fall in on their parade grounds at the hour named and will be ready to be formed up on the general parade ground half an hour later and will drill for two hours from the time they are formed up on the general parade.

R.O. 346 – 13-04-1900

No man will be permitted to take any horse which he claims he has ridden unless he can bring forward sufficiant proof that he has ridden the horse on the range and of that he was the owner of the horse previously and prior to its joining the regiment.

R.O. 347 – 13-04-1900

All N.C.O.'s and Men must be shaved before morning parade each morning.

R.O. 348 – 13-04-1900

All defaulters will fall in outside the Quarter Guard every hour from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm inclusive.

The N.C. Officer of the guard will inspect them and call the roll.

R.O. 349 – 13-04-1900

All officers should take particular notice of the way the men carry themselves off parade, checking and slovenliness and making the men straighten their backs and carry themselves as soldiers should.

The following letter dated 11th April 1900 from the Mayor and Corporation of the City of Cape Town is published for the information of all ranks.

"I am directed by His Worship the Mayor (Mr. Councillor T. Ball, J.P.) to convey to you and the Officers and Men of Strathcona's Horse a most hearty greeting.

The Citizens are deeply sensible to the sacrifices which have been by members of Strathcona's Horse in journeying to olur shores and undertaking the risk of a campaign in order to assist in upholding Her Majesty's authority in this country.

Again extending most hearty greetings to yourself, Officers and Men, on behalf of His Worship the Mayor and Citizens."
