Regimental Order -0-0-0-0-0 Orders by Lt. Col. Steele Commanding "Strathcona's Horse" Green Point Camp, Capetown, South Africa 18th April 1900 R.O. 372 – 18-04-1900 Detail for Thursday 19th April 1900 Captain of the Day, Captain Cartwright, F.L., of "C" Squadron, next for duty, Captain Howard, D.M. Subaltern of the Day, Lieutenant Magee, R.H.B., of "A" Squadron, next for duty, Lieutenant Kirkpatrick, G.H. R.O. 373 – 18-04-1900 The Officers mentioned below will assemble at Green Point Camp, Strathcona's Horse lines, on Friday the 20th April 1900 for the purpose of trying by Regimental Courts Martial the prisoners named below and such other prisoner or prisoners as may be brought before them. President: Captain Cartwright is appointed President. Members: Lieutenants Magee, R.H.B. and Benyon, J.A. Prisoners will be warned and all witnesses duly required to attend. The proceedings will be forwarded to the Brigade Office, Green Point Camp, Cape Town. Regtl. No. 84 Private Campbell, M.G. Regtl. No. 23 Private Hawthorn, W. Regtl. No. 438 Private Cross, J.R. R.O. 374 – 18-04-1900 There will be mounted parade this p.m. at 1.15. All N.C.O.'s and Men except those on guard, cooks, drivers, wagonmen and sick must be on parade. The parade will be inspected first on foot by their troop officers, after which they will mount and be inspected by Squadron Commanders, who will march them to the general parade ground by 2.00 p.m. R.O. 375 – 18-04-1900 No passes will be granted until after dismiss from evening stables. R.O. 376 – 18-04-1900 Until further orders all batmen and grooms will fall in by themselves under the orderly sergeant of their squadrons and be marched to the private parade and will fall in together, Sergeant D'Amour will take charge and instruct them apart from the other troops. This will include batmen and grooms of the regimental staff. R.O. 377 – 18-04-1900 The dress of N.C.O.'s, in walking out is by no means properly adjusted. This had been noticed and they will be barred from town if they cannot learn to holdthemselves properly and have their belts and hats fit them. Watch chains or trinkets must not be worn on any part of the clothing. R.O. 378 – 18-04-1900 The Vety. Officer and the F.Q.M. Sgt. must attend all stables. The sick lines must be carefully watched by the Farrier Sgts. of each squadron. The Orderly Officer will pay particular attention to the sick lines and attend during all stables, mentioning the same in his daily report. R.O. 379 – 18-04-1900 Localities of enlistment must be stated on all time sheets. R.O. 380 – 18-04-1900 For drill purposes troops will be equalized, the sections being kept as intact as possible. R.O. 381 – 18-04-1900 Great attention must be payed by all ranks to the cleanliness of the camp. The transport officer will detail daily as many teams and wagons as can be spared and sufficient men to go around the camp and horse lines and gather up all rubbish and manure piled up. R.O. 382 – 18-04-1900 When there is to be a mounted parade coming immediately after stables the following detail will be observed. Horses wull be saddled up before "Food" is sounded, the cinches will be left loose, the men will then go to their meals. The regimental call will sound fifteen minuets before the fall in. On "Fall In" sounding the men will fall in and be inspected on foot by their troop officers after which they will mount and fall in and will then be marched to the squadron parade ground, inspected by the Squadron C.O. and marched to the general parade on that call sounding. R.O. 383 – 18-04-1900 The regiment will parade for foot drill tomorrow morning at the usual hour.
