R.O. 444 – 27-04-1900
The following is a list of articles of kit &c to be taken to the front by N.C.O.s and Privates vis.
1. Articles to be worn or carried -
Felt hat, duck frock, duck breeches, braces, flannel shirt, flannel belt, drawers, socks, Slater boots, jack spurs, field dressing and description card, haversack with balance of days rations, water bottle (filled), with strap, clasp knife with lanyard, bandolier, with 100 rounds .303 ammunition, rifle and sling, pull through cleaning rod, and full oil bottle, bayonet and scabbard, waist belt and frog, steadying strap, revolver and holster with 12 rounds ammunition, hoof pick in left breast pocket.
2. Articles to be carried on Horse -
Saddle complete with head rope, one for and one hind shoe and nails in wallets, nose bag with six pounds corn, forage net and cord, picketing gear, rifle bucket, cloak, mess tin, and strap wallet pack, waterproof coat.
3. Articles packed in wallets -
Horse brush and curry comb, stable sponge, emergency rations, horse shoes, one fore and one hind c/w nails, holdall with comb, knife, fork, spoon, shaving brush, razor and case, towel and soap, boot laces, one pair.
4. Articles carried in small kit bag in regimental transport -
Duck frock, duck breeches one pair, housewife, fitted undershirts, drawers, canvas shoes, cloth brish, jersey, boots ankle, khaki putties, tin of grease, one pair of socks, flannel shirt, worsted cap, two blankets and waterproof sheet. The kit bag will be rolled in the blankets, the waterproof sheet over all and distinctly marked with Regimental Number, Name, Troop, Squadron. The boots will be tied together with the soles outward and will be packed last and placed on the mouth of the kit bag to admit of their readily withdrawn should be necessary.
Waggon men carry their rifles.
Notes on methods of carrying articles on horse. Great Coat rolled 26 inches long, behind the saddle, saddle blanket under saddle.
Forage Net - heal rope and peg, on off side of horn and picketing peg near side of horn.
Picketing pegs between great coat and waterproof. Mess tin fastened by the coat strap on the neat side, mallet (when taken) on the off side wallet, head upwards, handle fastened by the wallet straps. Tent mallets will be taken and carried off wallet.

The 4th para. in R.O. 444 is hereby altered and the duck frock and clothes brush are to be left in the brown kit bag instead of the white one.
