R.O. 457 – 29-04-1900
Until further orders "Retreat" will sound at 5.30 pm.
R.O. 458 – 29-04-1900
The Officers are to see that the screws are tightened on the Whitman bits. The chief cause of this trouble is through neglect of this precaution. The general fittings of the saddlery is not all satisfactory and more attention must be paid to it.
R.O. 459 – 29-04-1900
A board of Officers of the following detail:-
President, Captain Howard, D.M.
Lieutenants, Fall, P., Kirkpatrick, G.H.
will assemble to-morrow morning at 11.15 am to report on the loss of horses regimentally numbered as follows, viz:-
"A" Squadron - 4, 267, 2, 88, 61, 539, 567, 39, 289, 176, 256
"B" Squadron - 494, 444, 6, 435, 332, 353, 402, 396, 216, 403
"C" Squadron - 241, 292, 212, 191, 300, 217, 309, 204, 183
Transport - 541, 586
The evidence of Lieutenant Stephenson the Vety Surgeon and F.Q.M. Sgt. will be taken.
R.O. 460 – 29-04-1900
Neck straps will be kept on the horses neck, the white rope with the ring will be attached to it. The halter shank will be left behind with the head collar. The head rope issued at Ottawa will be carried in the wallets.
R.O. 461 – 29-04-1900
The baggage of "A" Squadron which is to be left at Cape Town will be stored to-morrow, commencing at 8.00 am. The regimental transport will be used for carting.
"A" Squadron will funish the necessary men to load and unload wagons and stack the baggage in store rooms. Lieut. White-Fraser will superintend the storing and will see that the baggage is stacked by troops in such a manner so that it can be easily got at when necessary.
As soon as "A" Squadron baggage is stored "B" Squadron will proceed in the same manner.
R.O. 462 – 29-04-1900
Refering to Regimental Order #448 transferring N.C.O.'s and men to the Regimental Staff for the machine guns -
THIS ORDER (NO. 448) IS HEREBY CANCELLED - and the N.C.O.'s and men named therein, will be attached to the Squadrons to which the guns were mentioned in that order belong.
R.O. 463 – 29-04-1900
"B" and "C" Squadrons will parade to-morrow morning, mounted, in drill order at 9.00 o'clock.
Drill order will be as follows:- Khaki uniform, Stetson hats, Slater boots, Waist belts, Revolver, Side arms and rifle only.
