Order Number 690 - Regimental Transport Officers:
Under the present system of transport it is considered necessary that Regt. Transport Officers should be discontinued, this taking away an officer from the fighting line; The appointment will therefore cease and the horses issued to Officers so appointed in dismounted units withdrawn. In camp the first line of transport should be looking after the Commanding Officer assisted by the Officer in Charge of the machine guns; on the march the A.P.M. of divisions and Q. Masters of Battalions should supervise and assist transport officers. (Army Order No.78(10) of 1st May 1900)

"A" and "B" Squadron Farriers and Shoeing-Smiths left for Maitland at 11.00 am today and will remain there till the shoeing is complete. The Officers Commanding "A" and "B" Squadrons will arrange for the care of the horses, saddlery and arms belonging to the above men while they are shoeing horses at Maitland. The Q-M. will arrange for their rations while at Maitland.

Thirty Eight horses regimentally numbered as stated below have been turned over to the remount department at Green point and are struck off the strength of the regiment from this date: - 445, 589, 272, 587, 466, 369, 492, 223, 10, 597, 412, 404, 113, 58, 49, 115, 218, 520, 535, 146, 511, 534, 451, 349, 521, 440, 448, 496, 528, 459, 24, 89, 263, 92, 166, 355, 381 and 319.

Lieut. White-Fraser, two batmen and three horses proceeded to Maitland today to join their squadron. They will be struck off "A" Squadron rations and forage from todays date.

There will be a mounted parade tomorrow morning in drill order. Fall in will sound at 8.30 am and general parade at 9.00 am.
