The following extracts from Base Orders of 21st May are published for the information of those concerned.
No. 786: Fresh Vegetable Rations:
"A supply of onions having arrived at Green Point and Maitland, the vegetable ration to be drawn from the 21st May 1900 will be 2/3 rds potatoes and 1/3 rd onions until the supply of the latter is exhausted.
No. 789 Queen's Birthday Parade States.
Field States on Army Form B 239 for the Queen's Birthday reviewed on 25th May are to be in this office by 10.00 am on 23rd (Wednesday).
No. 790 Dress:-
Attention is again directed to the dress of N.C.O.'s and Men. When walking out are all to be properly dressed. White belts to be pipe clayed and other belts properly cleaned. Shoulder, Cap and Collar badges are to be worn on all occasions.

Attention of the Regiment is drawn to Regimental Order Number 573 of the 15th of May relating to the free carrying of letters. "This only applies to Canada and the United Kingdom." all other destinations must have postage prepaid, the amount of the U.S. is being 2 1/2d.

The following hiorses being unfit for service and having been handed over to the remount depot are hereby struck off strength of the force. No.'s: 28, 46, 176.
R.O. 616 - 22-05-1900
Reg. No. 43 Private Webb, A.E. is hereby transferred from "A" to "B" Squadron.
R.O. 617 - 22-05-1900
Reg. No. 219 Sergt. McDonell of "C" Squadron and Reg. No. 10 Pte. Barker of "A" Squadron will be left at the base Cape Town to look after sick men, baggage &c under Major Biggar.
R.O. 618 - 22-05-1900
Reg. No. 219 Corporal Purvis of "B" Squadron is permitted to revert to the rank of Private at his own request.
R.O. 619 - 22-05-1900
Reg. No. 517 Private Nelles is promoted to the rank of Corporal vice Purves reverted from todays date.

Every Officer, N.C.O. and Man in the regiment must have a lariat. The Q- Master will note and see that this order is complied with first thing in the morning.

The following transfer will take place from today Reg. No. 291 Pte. Griffen from "A" to "C" Squadron.

"A" and "B" Squadrons will parade tomorrow afternoon. Dress:- Drill Order. Fall in at 1.30 pm, General Parade at 2.00 pm. Everyman except guards and cooks must be on parade.
