Orders by Lt. Col. Steele
Commanding "Strathcona's Horse"

3rd Mounted Brigade Orders

Aileen Kopje
21st June 1900

1. Moves

The brigade will move tomorrow at 8am in the following order:-

1. South African Light Horse
2. Strathcona's Horse
3. "A" Battery R.H.A.
4. Thorneycrofts Mounted Infantry

2. The baggage of the brigade, field hospital and supply column will also march at 8.00 am with the brigade. The baggage will march in two, parallel columns. The left column on the main road, will consist of the baggage of S.A.L.H., Supply Column and Field Hospital and will be under the charge of Captain Scott-Harding S.A.L.H.

The right column will consist of the baggage of Strathcona's Horse, R.H.A., and T.M.I. under the charge of Lieut. Pettyjohn, T.M.I.

No. 2 Field Troop. R.E., will march at the head of this column and be prepared to make any crossings over the railway for the baggage to cross over.

The whole of the baggage is to march on a broad front and should a check take place in front baggage officers are to see that the rear is not checked but that the wagons move on across the veldt, which it is believed is possible everywhere.

The composite regiment will march with the 2nd Division at 4.00 am. The baggage will accompany it.

O.C. will receive his orders from A.J. 2nd Division

All corps are to fill up from the supply column as soon as it comes in.

O.C., T.M.I. will detail 2 squadrons to follow the baggage.
