No. 1 Duties:
"C" Squadron will remain here for the present in accordance with Brigade Orders. Six dismounted men from "A" Squadron and five from "B" Squadron to make a squadron 150 strong.
No. 2 Guard
Officer Commanding "A" Squadron will detail 2 Troops for rear guard and Capt. Cartwright will report to G.O.C. 4th Brigade for Orders.
No. 3 Signals
A signal as follows is used in the 3rd Dismounted Brigade all members of the Regiment must make themselves conversant with it.
TO CHALLANGE - Hat is raised to full extent of arm above the head.
TO REPLY - Hat extended to right to full extent of arm.

3rd Mounted Brigade Orders
Greylingstadt
July 3rd 1900
No. 1 Moves
The Brigade will march tomorrow at 6.15 am to Vlaakfontein. Order of march, T.M.I., R.H.A., Strathcona's Horse. The leading regiment will cover the front and flanks of the advance and on arrival will put patrols on to Zwickerbosch Hill, 12 miles east of Heidelburg and communicate with General Hart who is now encamped there. These patrols will return and report immediately after communicating with General Hart. The O.C. Strathcona's Horse will detail two troops to be called 1 Squadron as rear guard. The squadron leaves to report to G.O.C. 4th Brigade for orders. Field Hospital will be ready to move off at 8.30 am immediately in the rear of the Corps, troops ammunition column (5th Section). The regimental baggage will be ready to move off by 8.45 am under Lieut. Pettyjohn. The whole of the 2nd line of transport will be under an officer detailed by G.O.C. 4th Brigade. Supply column to be ready to move off at 9.15 am. Under orders of Major Langdon, A.S.C. All Troops and vehicles to move on as broad a front as possible. O.C. Strathcona's Horse will detail 1 Squadron about 150 men to remain in Gerylingstadt for the present as part of the garrison which will remain here under the command of and officer of the 4th Brigade.
No. 2 Extracts
Cases having occurred of horses and other property being taken from Boers by persons who have no authority to do so. The Lt. General Commanding wishes it to be distinctly understood that such conduct is contrary to all orders and that any person found guilty of such renders himself liable to be tried by Court-Martial. Officers Commanding are responsible that this order is read to the whole of the troops under their command.
