Yes - it is a regimental pattern.

As to what it's made from, all I can answer is some sort of metal which has become a little discoloured in places, especially in the lower two corners. The wall seems to have been replastered around the plaque (it's in the church porch).

UKNIWM simply describes it as "metal." www.ukniwm.org.uk/server/show/conMemoria...8/fromUkniwmSearch/1

Here's Waller's QSA. He's also commemorated on the Duncombe Park Memorial in York and in the Royal Garrison Church in Aldershot. Pte. Waller was a resident of Whitby and died of disease at Bloemfontein 22/23-5-1900 while serving with the 12th Lancers. He was interred in grave 494 of the President Brand Cemetery in Bloemfontein on 24 May 1900. The service was administered by Chaplain to the Archbishop J. W. Williams.
