Yesterday I had occasion to travel to Chatswood and - knowing of the ABW memorial there - I took care to pack my my little SONY. Chatswood is a suburb just north of Sydney and has a well laid out and beautifully kept Memorial Garden. The first two attached pics are pretty self explanatory; Trooper Gilchrist was a member of the 1st Australian Horse, and both Trooper Whinfield and Private Smith were members of the NSWMI.
The third pic shows a view of another part of the Memorial Garden; each of the local residents who fell during WW1 and WW2 are individually remembered by a small plaque and an individual and carefully tended Picardy Rose bush.
Viewed just before Noon on a beautiful Sydney winter's day, a prickle ran up the back of my neck.
