Interestingly, the memorial has three World War 2 names added to one side but no-one from the Great War.


I agree the fencing is unsightly but without it the memorial would have been used as a rubbing post by livestock and certainly cows would have pushed it over in a few years. Without it the memorial would not look so pristine.

I looked up Eamont Bridge on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website and found four WW1 deaths, one being another Hindson.

Again, inspired by Berenice's thread I decided to visit this memorial after a visit to Penrith.
A really well designed memorial and well looked after, just a little difficult to photograph because of its position.
