In Preston Cemetery.

Fell in the late South African War on February 12th 1902, aged 26. His brother, Arthur, died in France in 1916.

Preston Library doesn't have the Preston Guardian for the first three months of 1902 so I couldn't look for a notice of Joseph's death. However, he doesn't appear in the list of casualties for the South Lancs., East Lancs. and The Loyal North Lancashire regiments which are in 'Red Roses On The Veldt.'

Thanks, Meurig, the Fusiliers had completely slipped my mind; now that I know I see his name on their South Africa War memorial in Bury.
