Gentlemen,
I was recently asked about the shocking state of affairs at the above location by a friend who was researching members of the Life Guards.
Now I do fully understand that vandalism is an on going issue and there is little that can be done with the cast grave markers once they have been removed if the appropriate records of particular graves are lost, however, I really do draw the line, when it comes to the deliberate destruction of the same, for example they are cut in half, in the interests of decoration, or, the names are plated over, ground off, or, otherwise removed.
I find this absolutely disgusting, in my opinion, there is just a single word that springs to mind, desecration, it saddens me greatly to think that for a number of British soldiers, there remains a simple casualty roll entry rather than the grave that they deserve.

Frank,

I am sure we would all agree with your sentiment and at the perpetual loss suffered in the many grave yards in SA. I am pessimistic about the future too.

Morning David,
Yes, this sort of thing really does sicken me, the vandalism is a separate issue, such as throwing excrement or paint, but, when "official" acts of desecration take place, that is another matter altogether and in a commonwealth country too, it really does beggar belief, quite disgusting and very sad indeed!
Regards Frank
