The statue and plinth are memorials to Private Alexander Watson and his companions, who fell in battle in the North-West rebellion in 1885. The current plaques all look to be fairly new so I don't know if the ABW memorial replaced an earlier one.

Major Henry M. Arnold, 90th Winnipeg Rifles; Captain, 2nd (Special Service) Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment of Infantry. Died February 23rd 1900, from wounds received in action at Paardeburg Drift on February 18th 1900.

Lieutenant J. Edgar Burch, Adjutant 2nd Dragoons; attached to 1st Battalion, Canadian Mounted Rifles, on special duty. Killed in action near Pretoria on July 16th 1900.

Private Archibald Radcliffe, 1st Battalion, Canadian Mounted Rifles, 2nd Troop, 'A' Squadron, Field Force. Killed near Belfast on September 23rd 1900.

Corporal Robert Irwin, 19th St. Catharines Regiment. Wounded at Houtuck on May 1st 1900, died at Bloemfontein on July 1st 1900.
