Paul,

Congratulations on tracking down the account of the presentation. We should swop information on tributes one of these days. I do remember meeting you. You were avidly collecting Boer war books and had an almost unattainable 'Wants' list for my father!

Best wishes,

Justin

Thank you for the photo. I also find the British Newspaper Archive very useful in tracing these presentations but have drawn a blank with this one so far but will keep trying. You won't remember but we met many years ago. I was a regular customer of your late father who sold me many Boer War gems over the years.

Regards
Paul

The Fison plaque is not a Boer War memorial - he died at Alexandria in 1898. The Imperial War Museum gives the wrong information, despite having the inscription. www.iwm.org.uk/memorials/item/memorial/28837
