Would like to see a picture of the memorial to this battle and find out where it is. Does the name of Constantinus Johannes Fauconnier, who died in the battle in December 1900, appear on the monument?

There is an account of this battle in the book 'Rustenberg at War' by Lionel Wulfsohn (ISBN 0 620 16769 6), and a photograph of the memorial at Breedts Nek to the Boers who died at Nooitgedact on 13 December 1900. It includes the name C J Fauconnier. This monument should be recorded somewhere on the Internet.

There is also a photograph of the Ebenhaezer Monument and the pile of stones laid by Boers and their families on 16 December 1900, as well as a chapter on this monument.

Thanks so much Brett. We have heard about the book and will see if we can find a copy of it.

My brother and I used to own the medals to the Brigade Major who was killed to Nooitgedacht. We travelled to the battlefield over a decade ago.

These are the pictures taken that day.

Entrance to the battlefield

Magaliesberg range

Position of the Boer artillery

Men who died at Nooitgedacht were re-buried at Krugersdorp.
