Could W. R. Osborne have been a son of the Rev. James Osborne, and he'd never actually lived in Holton Beckering? Perhaps working elsewhere when Rev. James moved to that church, or at university, and his father later wanted his son's war service to be remembered in the church; although it has to be kept in mind that the roll of honour dates from post-WW1. Was James Osborne still the vicar then?
