At Arthuret Parish Church, near Longtown, Cumbria (east of Gretna, north of Carlisle).

In loving memory of
JOHN ANGLEY
who died at Prior Rigg, Kirklinton
October 25th 1896, aged 68 years.
Also CATHERINE his wife who died at
Brownrigg, Ainstable, Dec. 14 1921
aged 86 years.
Also GEORGE, JOHN and WILLIAM
sons of John and Catherine Angley
who all died in infancy.
Also ALEXANDER their son who
died at Fort Bragg, California,
January 8th 1888, aged 25 years.
Also GEORGE their son who died at
De Aar, South Africa, April 30th 1900,
aged 35 years.

Thank you, Elmarie.

While out walking this morning, it occurred to me that his employment with the AOC might have had some connection to the munitions storage depot outside Longtown, but I checked, and that was created in the 1930s. Similarly, the cordite factory at Gretna wasn't opened until 1915, so no connection there either. So George Angley's living in the Longtown area and also being employed by the Army Ordnance Corps seems to have been just a coincidence.

Edit: George Angley was born in the 4th quarter of 1867, the birth being registered at Longtown.
