Robert Nesbitt Fowler
Lieutenant 16th (Queen's) Lancers
Son of Robert David Fowler
and Margaret _______, his wife.

Who died February 26th 1902
of wounds received in action February 25th near Calvinia,
South Africa, aged 26 years.
Faithful Unto Death.

Palmer shows a lot of info on Lt. R.N.Fowler, 16th Lancers. Lt. Fowler went to SA with his Regiment in 2/00 and saw much service. He was at one time a Transport Officer to a column and was Mentioned in despatches by Lord Kitchener on 8/3/02 "for gallantry in bringing in a dismounted man under heavy and close fire on 22/12/01". A relief bronze and oak tablet has been erected in his memory in Brazenose College, Oxford by his brother officers. Lt. R.N.Fowler was wounded at Bloodsuckersfontein on 25/2/02 and died the following day.
His QSA bore the clasps Relief of Kimberley, Paardeburg, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill and Wittebergen.
