The Murray family grave is in the Wauchope burial ground, outside Langholm, Dumfries and Galloway. Wauchope parish church, which was in what is now the burial ground, was demolished when a new parish was formed in 1703.

LANGHOLM MAN KILLED AT SPION KOP.
....News was received on Thursday of the death of Mr G. C. Murray, Imperial Light Infantry, who was killed at Spion Kop. He was the son of Mr James Murray, Langholm, and served his time as an ironmonger with Mr Milroy, Langholm. He subsequently held positions in Ayr, Glasgow, and Edinburgh, when he got a good appointment at Johannesburg. He joined the Imperial Light Infantry at Durban, and was last heard from at Estcourt.
