Hello All,

On the way back to Simon's Town I pulled over to take a few photo's which I hope you will enjoy.

There are of the memorial and grave of General Andrew Gilbert Wauchope. He was killed in action on the 11th December 1899 during the Battle of Magersfontein and originally buried there with his men. Later he was exhumed and then buried at Matjiesfontein. The cemetery is a wind swept and rather desolate place and there was also a single grave marker standing to a young man who also never made it home. He was 4203 Pte J. Boyle of the Royal Scots Greys, he died on the 10th October 1902. I presume at the camp in Matjiesfontein.
