Arthur Henry Uhthoff Tindal

He died of wounds received in action at Kheis on May 29th, 1900. He was born March 1858, educated at Malvern College, and entered the 1st Foot in January 1878. He was transferred to the 69th Foot in the following June was promoted Lieutenant in the Welsh Regiment February 1881, and Captain October 1887. He was a good rider and shot. Captain Tindal served in the operations in Sierra Leone from 1898-99, with the Protectorate Expedition as staff officer with the Bandajuma column, and held the temporary rank of Major from April 1899. He was adjutant of the Welsh Regiment from February 1888 to February 1892, and adjutant of Militia from June 1892 to November 1897. He embarked for South Africa in February 1900, and at the time of his death was on special service. Captain Tindal was buried at Prieska.
