In Market Weighton Cemetery, East Yorkshire. Seamour Gawtrey is also named on the Royal Artillery memorial, as having been in the 42nd Battery, and was born in early 1866, making him aged 34 at the time of his death.

The other names on the stone are his father, also Seamour Gawtrey, who died 13th December, 1899, aged 72 years, and his half-brother, Richard Gell, died 30th September, 1900, aged 39 years.

Gunner 90400 Seamour Gawtry
Joined the Royal Artillery at Woolwich in 1892 aged 22.
He was a butcher by trade, before joining the Artillery he served in the East Yorkshire Regiment and was discharged by purchase.
He served in India for 6 years and during the Boer War a total of 184 days. On the 30th October 1899 he was wounded by shrapnel in the leg at Farquhars Farm. His QSA entitlement, Elandsglatte and Defence of Ladysmith. He died from contracting dysentery.
