In All Saints' Church, Kirkby Overblow, about four miles south of Harrogate, Yorkshire. Francis was born at Huddersfield, in 1863, his father then being vicar of St Thomas' Church in that town. After 33 years there, by then a canon, and in ill-health, Edmund was offered the position of rector at Kirkby Overblow, in succession to Canon Toogood, who was the father of Mrs Snowden. Canon Snowden died at Kirkby Overblow after just over eighteen months there, and a small memorial plaque is dedicated to him in the church. The plaque dedicated to Francis was in place by 1903, and he's also named on the Old Derbians memorial tablet for Derby School pupils.
From the death notice in the London Standard it would seem that Francis may have been at Streatham School, South West London, prior to his death. Perhaps a master at the school, who went out to South Africa after the outbreak of war, and joined the S.A.L.H. in late 1899?
